I dropped the ball on one of my most promising projects. As a first-time, we make a lot of naive choices but hey it’s part of the game!
Here is the story. During the lockdown, I quickly got bored of platonic content on Netflix and thought it could have been great if there was a Netflix for business, tech, and entrepreneurs only. I posted the idea and went viral a lot of people wanted the product and signup for the waiting list. I took the advice of a Roku Executive and started a Newsletter that curated the best tech and business videos and sent them to subscriber email Every week with short summary in case you couldn't watch the entire thing. It was an immediate success with 200 subscribers on the day of launch.
I was then approached by "an investor" who wanted to help me build the actual platform, the actual Netflix for entrepreneurs. We put together a team I had people like Larry Namer founder of E! Television as potential advisor etc.
Long story short we wasted time on the business plan and countless zoom call on the next steps but never actually pull the trigger. We played business but didn’t do business.
I ended up stopping my newsletter which I think could have been worth a lot today if I had kept at it. Lesson for first-time founders never let anyone make you give up on your dreams.
But I am back - SUBSCRIBE to Vodcast.substack.com where I handpick and curate the best tech and business videos and send them summarized every week, it'll save you a lot of time and endless scrolling
