Creating a business around your open source project(s)
Hey Hackers,
I recently released an open source project which I originally wrote to simplify development of my own product. I'm now thinking of ways to generate revenue from it that can help grow the actual product.
A few examples of open source projects that make money come to mind (like Nuxt.js. The basic business model seems to be creating a consulting service around the project as well as landing sponsorships.
Does anyone have experience with creating a business model around open source projects?

I'm running Automated Machine Learning SaaS (https://mljar.com) and have AutoML open-source (https://github.com/mljar/mljar-supervised). If you are ok with coding then you can go with open-source package, if you don't want to code then you can select paid web service.
There are many open source projects that generates revenue: redash.io, sentry.io, sidekiq.org

Not sure what you mean by package vs. service? How did you go about monetizing your open source project?
The open-source package is a kind-of marketing channel for the service.
