Coindrop is a free webpage for one-time peer-to-peer payments & donations. Create your own Coindrop address (e.g. coindrop.to/satoshi-nakamoto) and list all the payment methods you accept. Then, let the sender choose the most convenient way to pay you, whether it's PayPal, Bitcoin, or virtually any other payment method.
I created the app after realizing that there is no free, open-source alternative to popular apps like Buy Me A Coffee and Patreon.
The main difference with those sites is that they are "creator platforms" whereas Coindrop is more like a "platform add-on" where you can accept donations from anywhere, including Patreon, but with zero fees. Just publish or mention the link on your website, social media profiles, or anywhere else.
The site is build with Next.js and Google Firebase. I am happy to answer any questions related to how it was built.
Constructive criticism is appreciated!
Normally I have lots of suggestions on product, positioning, messaging, design...but in this case very little. This is an excellent landing page!
The idea is good ("about.me for payments"); the logo is good (and the favicon works); everything is clear upfront (if you take a minute to read); it displays properly on desktop and mobile; and the simplicity of the site works to build trust with early adopters.
Just a few suggestions: add a little blur to the drop shadow (4px or 5px) on the box at the top; go a bit more assertive with your comparison heading, something like "Coindrop vs. the rest"; and make the FAQ question headings bold.
Also I would change the wording of the use cases to be more assertive as well. Drop the "perfect for" and just have (in bold) "Accept donations anywhere on the web" and so on.
You could probably lose the three small sub-headings ("Pick and choose" etc), too.
I'll send a DM to try it out.
One question: Is your cloud bill likely to get out of hand if this becomes popular?
Anyway, nice job!
Thanks for the feedback Shawn. I'm testing out these changes now.
