Critique my MVP for Protein Powder Taste Ratings
Find independent rankings and ratings for all major protein powders.
Hi fellow Indie Hackers,
I have recently purchased really bad tasting protein powder for my nephew as a birthday present. After finding out that people discuss flavours texture etc. on the internet I build a quick rails app where you can vote on the taste of protein brands/product/flavours. http://www.supplementtests.com
It is very simple and I just want to test the idea. So far I have only posted it to a couple of facebook groups and while the response has been positive, it was not overwhelming.
Please give an overall critique (design etc) but I would mainly like to know if you have any ideas how to make it more interesting to the user and if additional info would benefit the user experience?

Noble idea. I do find that reviews of flavours are always available at the biggest online supplement stores. As a regular purchaser of protein I only check to make sure the flavour isn't terrible as I can make it taste better by combining it with better flavoured powders or foods like yoghurt.
I know some people are particular about taste and want a change up from vanilla or chocolate to the point that they sell mistake purchases on craigslist if they don't taste good to them. So you might be onto something.

Thanks for the detailed feedback jdox. I have seen these review features on big supplement stores but always found they could be improved (not able to tell any rankings, no aggregated reviews, no way to tell what is the best brand for a flavour i.e. Strawberry).

Maybe partner with supplement companies and offer sampler packs to customers?
The obvious is affiliate marketing, but maybe this makes the credibility of the site suffer?
I have been also thinking about market reports as a possible income stream... But long way to go...
Thanks for the feedback so far. I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions regarding user sign up. Currently, everyone can vote. I implemented this to get more votes on the product (but could also trigger more spam). Do you think it is a good tackick and if yes when should I implement signup for users?
