So my wife has a wedding video business which she promotes and has to do a lot of marketing on FB, twitter and Instagram.
Apparently if you google "video upload from PC to Instagram" you will get a million links to basically things that don't work or charge a lot or are outdated.
As a dev I thought surely it can't be too hard and I wrote a console app on day 1 and on day 2 put it into a GUI for her to use. Does pretty much what she needs, uploads, adds descriptions and tags. Its not slick but it gets the job done.
Is there really a market for this stuff, my wife told me there are people charging £20 a month for this.
Im about to create the mac binaries today so it will be for windows and osx.
How would I go about selling it?
Any responses are appreciated, hope everyone is safe in lockdown :)
Instagram is a good way of entertainment and connect with each other globally. At this platform you can share your memories through videos and pictures. Now you can download Instagram videos from this source easily. https://savefromig.id/
My two cents. I was working for a company selling Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee a super competitive keyword. What I did was go through the top 30 results and offered everyone $5K to $10K for their domain. You'll see alot of sites are non-functional.
I wonder if you could hustle and try that, google those keywords, and then WHOIS lookup or manually offer everyone $1K or something or rev share.
If that doesnt work, you could advertise on Google for the keyword that your selling for (exact match) - it no ads are showing up you could get it that way, but if your Quality score isnt good you wont show. You will show for Bing/Yahoo if you advertise there - they dont care
Lastly, if you have to do it with SEO, its going to take a couple months and you just have to get good backlinks.
It could be a little bit of cash; I wonder what the longer term vision would be? I also wonder what the search traffic is on that keyword (or keywords) - are there really that many people searching for it. My gut says; try the first option (reaching out to the first 30 results) and if it doesnt work move on to a longer term idea - but thats just my two cents

I'm sorry that doesn't sound very realistic unless you're incredibly wealthy.
Thanks for the seo advice for bing/yahoo.
I think I'm just going to drop it and open source the app. I mean two days work part time just so my wife could upload some videos via the desktop.
Ppl seem to be charging a fortune for that... Though its not clear how I could get involved easily without spending and risking a fortune myself... I do not think its worth it.
Thanks though
I would love to see the code if you open-source it. Let me know if you do.
@foocux not a problem ;)

Thank you! I'm now wondering how many photos you could upload until the rate-limiter block you 🤔
Well this uploads videos. Given it uses the api it could be unlimited.
I had noticed that Instagram are changing their api next month in which case the app may stop working. The code would then need updating assuming the Instagram nuget package was updated.
