Crossed $1000 in one month for my job board!
Hey, I'm so happy to share this milestone!
I started working on Rocket Crew ( a niche job board for the Space industry) about 1 and a half years ago and finally crossed the symbolic $1000 in one month in October
It's not MRR, but I hope it will continue like this in the coming months
My main acquisition channel is SEO
For example, I saw a few weeks ago that Rocket Crew ranked 1st in the US for the "space jobs" keyword!
The next step is to develop the reverse job board part I launched a few days ago, it could be a way to have a more stable MRR, so let's hope it works!

How did you get initial data/job offers for your job board? Did people started posting right away (paid/free?) or did you use public data to seed your database at launch?
I created a web scraper to get open positions from around 50 space companies to populate the job board
I think it took 2-3 months to get the first paid post, and it was around $25, I am increasing the price since then to reflect the number of visits the site gets

Did you ever got concerned regarding possible copyright issues in terms of text and image content? – Or do you think companies appreciate the "free" redistribution of their job content?
I'm not concerned about copyright issues I think companies appreciate the "free" redistribution, some of them even liked the positions I post on Twitter
And if there is an issue I can remove everything right away, but it has never happened so far

I choose the space job niche simply because I'm passionate about the Space industry, but I don't have any experience in it
I searched for a job in this industry at some point but it was hard to filter Space companies with other job boards So I figured I could build one with a focus on the "New Space" ( space startups )

Not really, I created a web scraper to get jobs from around 50 space companies to populate the site, but there was never an option for companies to post one for free directly

No, I started from scratch right away because I wanted the search terms to match the URL for SEO, it took me 2 weeks to build the first version

I rely on Ahrefs keyword analysis very much in my SEO strategy. In our niche, keywords like "logo maker", and "logo design" are way too high in KD (keyword difficulty). Therefore we created many subpages to target long-tail keywords like https://instantlogodesign.com/logo/nft for NFT Logos, https://instantlogodesign.com/logo/lawn-care for Lawn Care Logos. This strategy helps drive more traffic to your website in just a few months.

That is an awesome product. I'm wondering, how do you handle expired jobs? Do you check in to see if the job is still open? Do companies ever reach out to you asking you to remove a listing? Or is none of that an issue at all?
I have a script to see if a job is still open, and if it's not I flag it as expired
It happened 2-3 times that a company reach out to ask me to remove an expired job

My competitor's sites are a pain to use so I tried to improve this on Rocket Crew 😅
In addition, I included jobs from the New Space ecosystem to differentiate, which seemed absent on other sites
