Even though I have been into email marketing for a quiet sometime and built email lists with 1000s of subscribers, but this time I did things differently with full focus on "Email List Quality", rather than "Email List Quantity".
So... with my newest side project "The WP Weekly" https://thewpweekly.com/ in 5 weeks I have crossed 200 subscribers with open rate above 50% and 23% CTR . Following are things I did to take this project off the ground quickly on minimal viable basis.
- Kept website build simple with to the point copy.
- Publishing newsletter on website itself for Google juice.
- Sending full contents to email subscribers, instead of teaser with button.
- Keeping it interactive but with minimal commentary.
- Reaching out to friends to promote in their newsletter.
- Promotion via Facebook groups.
- Making Facebook Page and Twitter Profile for this from Day 1.
Next...
- Continued focus on consistency.
- Quality content only (just read my content as a visitor and analyse, easy?)
- Scheduling Twitter and Facebook page updates to keep thing buzzing.
- Scale up to increase the money flow. As such, it has already started making money (a little as of now, but got few solid plans to scale that part).
- Keep the fun factor alive and kicking.
And.. of course explore and look for more ways to scale up subscribers count "qualitatively" :)
