Current Time UTC: A minimalist time zone converter

I created this small project to validate an idea. Please let me know if you have any feedback!

Great idea, I love that it could easily be bookmarked as a reference with timezones saved. A few features that would be nice to have:

    • Ability to remove cities without having to start over
    • A sidebar timeline with all the selected timezones that can be a quick reference
      | EST | PST |
      | 10am | 7am |
      | 11am | 8am | ...

Thanks! Can you elaborate on the sidebar timeline? Is it to provide a condensed view of all the time zones?

Something similar to this, where it is possible to compare https://www.worldtimebuddy.com/est-to-pst-converter

Hm do you think the UI would be too cluttered if I added that? Or maybe put the sidebar in a different tab?

This is a really cool one, nice UI

      Thanks, I appreciate it!

Looks neat. My recommendations are to take a look at sites that show in Google for searches like Current Time UTC and build a better version. Then if you start to get some traffic, you could monetize with ads. These tool types of sites and be great if you could get the traffic from Google.

If you focus on City Time Dashboards, I could see that useful for an office to display if the company is spread all around the globe.

My initial plan was to iterate on this and get a core group of users. I have implemented most of the feature requests users gave. I guess now it's just getting this out there and getting more feedback?

What inspired you to create this time zone converter, and how does it differ from other similar tools available online?

    1. 1

You know in TV shows and movies where they show an office with a wall of clocks that show the local time in various cities? I wanted to build something similar and was curious if other people found it useful.

I know the intention is to be minimalist, but it would be great if you add a map showing the locations of the selected cities, or even color the time zone

    1. 2

Is the goal to identify the difference in times? Or is it to see where each zone is, geographically?

I think it’s a good idea and would find it useful sometimes. However, I don’t think people would pay for it because the value it provides is easily accessible for free. If you want to earn money with this project, you must add some extra functionality to it.

    1. 1

Thanks for the feedback! What additional functionality would recommend?

      1. 1

That's a really good question. As for additional functionality, I'm not entirely sure, but I would suggest considering the problems that your target audience may have and how you can solve them with your app.
