Just launched a startup and focusing on acquiring customers organically through unpaid acquisition channels. A lot of my efforts were focused on answering Quora questions and responding to Reddit threads. Here my first observations:
Quora:
I answered a few questions revolving around my target audience with as much value as possible. At the end of the post I quickly tied what I had written to my startup and very unobtrusively posted a link to the landing page, asking users to consider taking a look at it. Result: My answer was immediately taken down by Quora and after trying to answer a second question my account was temporarily blocked.
Reddit:
Responded to threads in communities revolving around my target audience, again providing as much value as possible. NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE TO QUORA. Even though my posts on Reddit "sold" my product more, they were greeted with upvotes and constructive discussion and more importantly intent and conversion.
What have your experiences been with these two acquisition channels? What do you think would work best for our startup? Which other ones have you used?
I used Quora for one for my side project, I made an intense routine for the first 3-month on Quora. Stopped for several months and now enjoying all the longtail efforts.
I've reactivated my Quora routine recently but only 1-2 high quality and thoughtful replies per week. I mentioned this in one of my previous post
Would love to exchange opinions with you. Are you on Twitter? Let's chat! @kbailas
