Solo developer without design or marketing skills.

Solo developer without design or marketing skills. I'm building a SaaS without a designer and marketer and would like to have someone to help in that aspect. Where should I go from here?

I found myself in this situation when I started building my product recently. To be honest, these are all skills you can learn yourself. I found it helpful to look for youtube videos on web design to help me learn just enough to be dangerous. Fonts, layouts, color schemes. You can learn the basics fairly quickly. You'll be better off DIY to begin (you can always hire a professional after you gain traction to polish your efforts).

I found this youtube channel to be helpful for learning design basics: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvBGFeXbBrq3W9_0oNLJREQ

For marketing, I'm watching some of these videos produced by mailshake: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWbAqMkPM_Z-8IxR4madbyw

I'm also in the same situation. I decided to follow a similar path as described by @steverecio and teach myself the basics.

I think It makes sense, as a founder, to understand the basics of how to deal with design and marketing. The goal is not to become a specialist, but to get stuff running without depending on others and to develop a sense of judgement about those topics (which I believe might be quite helpful whenever it's time to find/hire someone to take over).

    Some resources I'm currently using:

    • IndieHackers podcast
    • The UI Audit from Jane Portman helps a bit with UX basics
    • The SaaS Podcast has some neat insights about what other people have tried/failed regarding marketing

I used to work in digital marketing and currently work at a management consultancy assisting with their data analytics and digital assignments.

I'd love to help you out!

In return, I'd love to learn how you go about developing tools and software. Not the coding stuff, just the development process and the discipline.

Thanks for the link! Just had a look but I don't think I'm looking for a co founder. I could hire a designer and marketer but I'd try to keep it low cost for now since it's at an early MVP stage
