ASK IH: Feedback for my product Idea: an Online Course On Content Marketing
Hey there, fellow makers, entrepreneurs, and makers at IH 👋🏻
I've been going back and forth on an idea of mine, which is:
An online video course on how to set up and implement a lean, automated way to improve the reach and visibility of your content.
It would really mean the world to me if you could give me your feedback 🙌🏻
It is focussed on SMB's, bootstrapping makers, (aspiring) entrepreneurs and bloggers who want to get more online presence without having to spend a day in the week on sharing stuff.
The title that I'm thinking about:
Implementing Lean and Effective Content Marketing Using Automation
It will cover stuff like:
- The Content Marketing vocabulary explained
- The different types of content
- Generic tactic and approach for marketing your product/content/...
- Using tools (with free tiers) to improve and automate your marketing efforts
I am investigating Teachable as it is the first time I'd be recording a course (although I'm getting better at video editing and vlogging).
My questions to you:
- What do you think of the idea for the course? Anything missing?
- Is the title clear enough?
- Would you pay for such a course? It would be about 6 to 10 episodes of video content, made up out of videos of me talking to you, discussing the topics and showing hands-on footage on setting up those tools for you.
Hi Edwin! I like your idea, and I think it's very scalable since the topic is blowing up right now. I recommend you checking out these 3 resources:
The interesting thing about Iman Gadzhi and Sam Ovens is how they sell their products through personal brand, email lists, valuable information and pretty effective landing pages.
On the other side, Ryan is this giant blogger who makes a living from writing blogs and producing content. He also has a great podcast on the topic, and some premium content (like books and courses).

Hey, I learned a lot in the past 5 years or so via podcasts, talking to makers, founders, CEO's and watching and reading a lot of content and books. I'm working on Shipharder.com to provide content for (aspiring) makers, too. Blog/Vlog content and lots of stuff on Instagram coming up.
I didn't stumble upon the sources you provided yet so I'm really thankful that you shared them with me! 🙌🏻
I am thinking about monetizing Shipharder.com using Affiliate marketing and by recording my own maker story on it.
That's when my course idea came up: I want to create a course for makers, but then I thought: why not first create a course on something I have been helping a lot of people with.
I think I need to find the right crowd that will pick up on my course idea; my focus group consists out of the less tech-savvy starting entrepreneurs/bloggers/website owners that want to be more visible online but without the massive overhead.
