I am working on a daily CSV report of new launches, with the following columns, all of which are personally validated by me...
Business Name
Website
Contact
Contact Role (usually CEO/founder)
Contact Email (verified)
Contact Linkedin
Contact Twitter
Website Heading
Website Meta Title
Website Meta Description
any other column requests?
There will be 30+ per day, 7 days per week, sourced from places we all know and love; but the key is they are pulled into a single daily sheet together with fully validated contact details, quite a bit of manual work each day.
I anticipate an introductory monthly fee of $100. Who's interested?
I get the point/value - consolidation/time saving effort here. I'd guess you could build some automation to populate these columns from a handful of sources. I'd challenge you to think about what value add you could add on-top of this.
Surely you've heard of trends.vc - this sort of reminds me of that and your customers would likely be the same as theirs. He adds a bit of personality and opinion on top of the data he consolidates which is more time consuming but IMO is why it's more valuable.
How might you make this a consolidation/time saving PLUS value-add to enrich the data set?
and just to add to my reply @JohnatProxii, I appreciate the deeper thought you've put in, it makes asking and validating ideas on IH worth while ;-)
yeah I've been getting Dru's free version and I can see the value he looks to add. But I guess my proposition is not meant to compete with his deep-dives.
However I do see the value of adding something extra, but in more of a summarised way that doesn't takes yet more hours of our time to read.
So perhaps 1 or 2 short paragraphs analysis and opinion on each one. And the buyer would order the report in the knowledge of my long experience in startups - verifiable via my website so people know this is written by someone who knows what they're looking at.
Do you think this takes it from "yeah I might spend $99 because it definitely saves time" to "blimey, this is a no-brainer"?
@steveprocter sorry I missed this! Yeah I was just challenging you to add a little extra value where possible! But to be honest, I'd launch just by consolidating the info like how you've proposed. Gather that early feedback, try and understand if it'd be WORTH the extra time to add that extra value. Because I totally hear you...not worth the extra effort if it's not a magnitude of difference in what you could potentially charge!
What's the value addition here ? Product Hunt gives the details of the project that just launched.
Why someone would like to know founder details of each launched products everyday ?
This sounds like a great idea, will definitely save a whole host of time when doing outreach
Sounds interesting. Gonna keep track of it. Good luck!
;-)
You can easily get it from Producthunt and use a few other services like Hunter for email.
I agree @sagunsh, but how many hours does that take every day? $100 per month is $3 per day - is your own hourly rate less than this?
Being a developer and for me doing something like this with the available tools(hunter and ph api), won't take more than a few hours to setup and create a hook that emails me the report every day. So that means anyone can hire a developer, say on Upwork and create a similar tool.
$100/mo seems over priced for the data you are offering. I mean crunchbase has a subscription for $29 with a ton of data. If you could add funding and revenue data, that would be more useful.
I appreciate your input, but clearly this isn't for developers who love to build everything ourselves ;-)
And very few non-developer people will go to the effort of hiring a developer to bother building this sort of thing. This offers low-cost convenience. $100 for what could be close to 1,000 businesses - I think I've made it too cheap ;-)
Also, Hunter is 99 euros per month for the package level someone would need for the amount of businesses each month.
Oh, and Crunchbase does not provide email addresses for founders/ceo's in the majority of cases.
What I meant was if someone is using your product, they can easily replicate it for $100 (one time) hiring someone else instead of paying $100 every month. You can't replicate Crunchbase's offering for $29 or even $2900.
@sagunsh respectfully I need to disagree - they would have to pay Hunter 99 euros every month to do the checks.
With Crunchbase, does it give guaranteed verified email addresses for the founder/ceo? And does it even have all newly launched startups (in the past few days)?
