I'm working on an update of the marketing site for https://behold.so, and I'm wondering about my choice to use a dark color scheme.
I think my current design is quite nice - but it's really pretty unusual for SAAS websites to go dark like this, so I'm a little worried it doesn't "feel" like a SAAS app to visitors. Am I overthinking it? How do you folks feel?
Hello Griffin,
You brought up an interesting topic, it resonates with me! I enjoy looking at dark themes as they look more non-standard. Besides, I always choose the light theme because of the text readability. It's way easier, isn't it?
Talking about the "usual/non-usual" themes for SaaS - you have nothing to worry about. It still feels like SaaS and looks good as well. Good job!
I'm with you - I think I often like how dark themes "feel" but outside of my IDE at night, I find light themed interfaces easier to parse, especially if I'm reading long-form content. Thanks for the reply!
Hey Griffin,
I think you may be over-thinking this 😅
Your website looks amazing, and I think looking different from the traditional SaaS websites is a good thing.
Good luck!
I think you're probably right, haha. Thanks for the reply.
Good to have the options, but anyone who works long hours on a PC knows darker themes are easier on the eyes. Even if it's just 'cooler' colors like blue.
Also, your site looks damn good already. I like the concept. Care to share if you've reached profitability yet? Apologies if I missed it in an earlier post.
Appreciate it! If you count labor I'm far from profitable. I had a lot going on the past year just after launching and wasn't able to pay enough attention to this project. I've been refocusing on it the past couple months though, and I've gotten some core missing features launched.
I think I have a very compelling offering at this point for people who need this service, but they simply don't know it exists, so I've now started focusing on marketing, which is new territory for me.
I think you may be right. I assume you haven't (yet) gotten much user traction, based on your comments about marketing?
Yep - I actually have good conversion rates and user engagement, but just very low traffic to the site, so that doesn't mean a whole lot. More eyeballs are needed!
