Faced with similar issue. I've been working on my own dating service for almost 2 years. I've spent a lot of time, energy and personal savings, but didn't get an expected result. I've done a technical side, but the main problem is an aquisition of new users. The dating market is wide and huge, but it is dived by few major players, who spend millions of dollars for advertising.
