Day 21: learning why people freeze before starting

Hey everyone,

I’m on Day 21 of building Unjam, a small project focused on one specific problem:

people often know exactly what they need to do, but still can’t start because their mind feels too full.

The more feedback I collect, the more I’m noticing the same language:

“everything feels urgent”
“too many thoughts”
“I don’t know where to begin”

So instead of building a generic productivity tool, I’m focusing on helping users find just one clear first step.

Today I updated the homepage messaging based on user feedback and made it feel calmer and more emotionally safe.

Would love honest feedback from other builders:

  • does this problem resonate?
  • what would make the landing page clearer?
  • how would you build trust early?

  1. 1

I’ve hit that “I know what to do but can’t start” wall more times than I can count.

What helped wasn’t more features, just making the next step painfully obvious.

    1. 1

      That’s exactly it.

The hardest part is the first step feeling too big to even choose.
