[day 26] i relaunched my product and finally got real users (after failing the first time)

launch #1 felt amazing.

posted on instagram primarily, supported by twitter and linkedin.
friends supported. were liking my posts, sharing it on their stories, it was incredible. but almost no one actually used the product.

it looked like success from the outside. it wasn’t.

which made me relook at the product. figure out what was missing.

what i had made was super niche, that not a lot of people might find use of (though personally, i did find a lot of use from it). but i decided to add some features that has a lot more "mass appeal". how you have a "hook" for a video, i made a "hook" for my product (i'll write the details about this some other day).

and yesterday i did launch #2.
this time i posted on reddit first.

ended up hitting #13 on r/macapps…then climbed to #7.

that alone surprised me. i’ve never had a post move like that before.

but more importantly. the comments were actually thoughtful.
people were trying it, asking questions, giving real feedback (that i used to improve one of my demos as well).

i gamified it too, rt + comment for a free license, i got a lot of inbound because of this.

then i did the same on twitter.
and that too took off (compared to how my usual posts do)

a lot of retweets → a lot of eyeballs → a lot of people actually trying the product.

again, way more engagement than anything i’ve posted before.

but here’s the part that matters:

launch #1 got support.
launch #2 got users.

and that difference feels massive.

still early. still figuring things out.
but, if you’re about to launch: don’t confuse support with usage

    Awesome to see you actually went through with the 100 pro-license giveaway on Reddit! I just checked out the link you shared—looks like it generated some really solid early traction and stress-testing for Launch 2.0.

    Did you find the Reddit crowd gave you good, actionable feedback, or was it mostly just people grabbing the free key and ghosting?

      definitely got one actionable feedback that i was able to implement right away. one of the commentors found that i was swiping between spaces on my mac in the demo, which on a psychological level made the product look less efficient.

      it made a whole lot of sense, and i re-recorded the demo right away.

      some other smaller feedback continues to come my way (mostly bug fixes), but i am more than happy to action it, since it's not based on my assumptions anymore but real user feedback.
