Day 27: learning why people from tasks to scrolling

Hey builders,

Today’s learning update:

A recurring user pattern is starting for a few minutes, then switching to scrolling because the task feels too big or mentally draining.

I’m using this to rethink the first-step experience in Unjam.

Would love thoughts:

"The 'mental drain' pivot to scrolling is a classic friction point. If the first step feels like a hurdle instead of a slide, users will always take the path of least resistance (scrolling). Breaking that first task into a 10-second micro-win could be the key for Unjam.
Since you're at this critical UX refinement stage on Day 27, you should enter this project into our competition--“Prize pool just opened at $0. Your odds are genuinely the best they'll ever be.
$19 entry. Winner gets a real trip to Tokyo — flights and hotel booked by us.
    Round 01 closes at 100 entries. tokyolore.com”

That “10-second micro-win” idea is actually really aligned with what I’m seeing.

The biggest drop-off seems to happen right when the first step feels like effort instead of momentum, so turning it into something almost frictionless or immediate is what I’m trying to refine right now.

Appreciate you sharing the competition again too — I’m looking into it and just trying to understand the structure and judging side a bit more before deciding 🤍

Thanks igaru! Spot on — the 10-second micro-win is exactly the kind of frictionless first step that makes or breaks adoption.

Quick overview of Tokyo Lore: It’s a paid ideas competition where people submit Tokyo-connected business or creative ideas. For $19 you get a custom AI-generated artifact of your idea + a full SPEAR business analysis, plus entry into the round where the winner gets a real trip to Tokyo (flights + hotel booked by us).

Prize pool has already started building with the first entries — so your odds are excellent right now while it’s still very early.

The structure is simple: submit your idea via the form after checkout, we judge based on creativity + Tokyo relevance (full criteria on the site), and the winner is announced when Round 01 hits 100 entries.

Would you like to submit an idea? Happy to send you the direct $19 link and walk you through the whole process step-by-step (takes under 2 minutes).

        What do you think?

Got it, thanks for explaining — it sounds interesting.

If I do submit, I’d probably frame it around Unjam and how it applies to high-pressure environments like fast-paced cities.

I’ll take a closer look at the details and decide 🤍

Thanks igaru! Perfect — framing Unjam around high-pressure/fast-paced cities like Tokyo is exactly the kind of Tokyo-connected idea that does really well here.
