Day 5 of #buildinpublic: How I Got My First Users

Getting those first users felt like climbing a mountain. I knew building a great product wasn’t enough—I had to get it in front of people.

So I started sharing everything on Twitter and Indie Hackers: the wins, the struggles, even the messy parts. I posted updates, asked for feedback, and joined conversations. Slowly, people started noticing.

One day, a few indie hackers replied to my thread, saying they wanted to try Find Me A Laptop. That small moment—real people using what I built—was huge. It reminded me why building in public matters: it’s not just about transparency, it’s about connection.

Since then, every comment, DM, and piece of feedback has helped shape the product in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

If you’re starting out, don’t underestimate the power of showing your work and engaging with the community. The first users are out there—they just need to hear your story.
