Day 5. Still 0 customers. But I just made the biggest change since launch.

What I realized:
Three separate people on Indie Hackers told me the same thing — first-time buyers don't want a subscription. They want to test the tool once, pay once, and decide later if it's worth more.

I was selling a $7/month subscription to people who've never used the product. That's a hard sell with no social proof.

What I changed:
Added a lifetime option. $9 once. 500 images forever. No watermark. All templates.

The subscription ($7/month) is still there. But now there's a no-commitment entry point.

The landing page now shows:

  • Lifetime Access — $9 once (highlighted as "Best value")
  • LinkCover Solo — $7/month

Why this matters:
The people giving me feedback have already launched and sold products. They've been where I am. If all three say the same thing, I listen.

Question: for those who've sold one-shot and subscription side by side — which one got your first customer?

I'd be careful with one thing.

The interesting question may not be whether first customers prefer one-time payments or subscriptions.

The harder decision may be whether the lack of customers is actually validating a pricing change, or whether it's pointing somewhere earlier.

Those can create very different conclusions from the same data.

I wouldn't make that call casually in a thread.
