I launched my MVP yesterday. Thus far it hasn't yet received the traffic I was hoping for.
I've been spending my free time after work trying to find more/better ways to help market it so that I can:
a) get better feedback
b) see if it is a viable business offering
c) actually get any users/beta testers of it
I've done a little more marketing today using Reddit.
I'm waiting on HN to fix some kind of issue keeping my posts from being seen by others.
Twitter mysteriously suspended the account I set up purely for use with my side project.
I will continue this some more tonight and then again tomorrow.
Hi Matt. Great concept :)
I know that today's paradigm is the "profit from the first day".
But if you think about it - feedback of your first customers is the most valuable thing that you can get on this stage; do you think that the adequate price of it is only 1 month of free MVP usage?
Regarding the UX: I assume that most of your customers will come with almost 0 network security background, therefore the first thing UX-wise that you need to think through, IMHO - is to translate all of the technical stuff to the language of humans.
Regarding marketing - I think that the great move will be to scan every visitor of your website and give them some sort of live report; I don't know what the typical results would be, but it can create sort of viral effect (like these "personality tests" on social networks).
Good luck!
