Dear Indie Hackers, I'll build and maintain your cloud infrastructure for free in 3 months

Who am I?

Hello! My name is Dave. I have been working with cloud infrastructure for the past 5 years, including 3 years building cloud services at AWS.And now I'm building a PaaS startup!

What I'm offering

  • build and maintain your cloud infrastructure
  • create automated deployment pipeline
  • monitor and alerts production issues
  • auto scale your application
all for free in 3 months

Why I'm offering this

I'm building a companion.dev, a cloud platform (PaaS) that deploys, monitors, and scales applications for startups. This offering is a great way for me to talk to potential customers (you) and understand your need.

Why building another PaaS?

Most PaaS out there want to keep customers in their platform. However, I've noticed that customer businesses will inevitably grow pass what a PaaS can offer. A common story I've seen is that startups have to do expensive and time-consuming migration off Heroku once they reach a certain scale.

I want to build something different. In one hand, the platform helps you to deploy your code to public cloud quickly, free you from tedious monitoring and scaling tasks. In other hand, the platform must have a easy path for you to customize, and even bring your own infrastructure. If you need to move off the platform and self-manage your infrastructure, there must be an export button to export all your infrastructure code and configurations.

How does it work?

Companion.dev works as a zero config compiler that analyzes your application and generates infrastructure code (in terraform) and other configurations, deploy them, monitor, and auto scale. There will be zero work for you to worry. The generated code and configurations are belong to you. You're free to export it anytime.

How much will it cost?

Companion.dev is be free during a 3-month alpha period. After that, companion.dev will cost a small fixed monthly fee per user.
You still have to pay your cloud bill though. All the cloud cost will be transparent to you. You can even provide your own cloud account.
