Defining pricing tiers

I'm building a new b2c product and as I'm adding different feature sets, I'm interested in any guidance people have on what to include in different tiers.

I've seen the general guidance where a free offering tells the user what to do, then the customers pay for the tool to do that work for them. And I get that some of the answer will be trial and error and will change as the product evolves.

But interested in ideas and experience around what to include in a free product that has enough value to hook the user, but not including so much for free that there no incentive to start a paid subscription.

Thanks
