Definition of diversity and inclusion in human resources.

Diversity and Inclusion is the key to an inclusive work environment.

Diversity in the workplace is an attribute or characteristic that describes the variety of people, backgrounds, perspectives, physical, and social characteristics. It's about who one is and what one has to offer. Creating a diverse workforce will allow for innovation and creativity.

Inclusion refers to the procedures that organizations implement to integrate into the workplace whereby allowing their differences to coexist in a mutually beneficial way and are open-minded and welcoming to all types of diversity. The main goal of inclusion is to value differences and make everyone feel welcome, respected, accepted, valued, & comforted to share opinions without hesitation.

For instance - A recruiter to overcome unconscious biases will hire a diverse candidate and build a diverse team. If these team members feel welcomed, accepted, valued, and equally able to collaborate & contribute then the company has succeeded in inclusion.
