Demand for an app to manage the customer lifecycle?

Business owners naturally want to be able to track and manage their customers at different stages of the journey, and potentially take actions to move that customer from one stage to the next. I work at a Big Co software shop and there is actually no way to see or manage this, and likewise down to the smallest startup I'm not sure there is a solution out there (or maybe there is?).

I'm thinking of an app that would allow you to either integrate with existing data or customize it to fit your needs based upon each step in the customer journey. For example, you would have a way to track your upper funnel through leads, then to opportunities, etc., which you could import from Salesforce or another CRM, or create your own. Then you could create triggers based on those events, etc. Follow this thread all the way to identifying churn and processing renewals, etc.

Do you view this as a problem that needs to be solved?

Hm, I thought this was part of most CRMs? Being able to trigger follow up emails after a certain amount of time, tracking where a person is in the funnel with tags or labels of some sort, etc. How is this different than a CRM?

Yes most CRMs do allow for email triggers based on certain events, but I've yet to see something that allows you to look at the entire customer journey, including purchases, subscription status, deployment and adoption state, churn/renewal info, etc. I'm sure you could configure Salesforce in such a way if you tried hard enough, but the interface itself doesn't really lend itself to this type of view and adding all the right integrations to third party sources (or allowing manual uploads of data) is beyond the scope of most implementations from what I've seen.
