Demo video under 45 seconds beats a polished landing page on AI boards

I burned a week polishing a landing page before an AI board launch. Nice gradients. Careful FAQ. Then hunters skimmed the card, never scrolled the essay, and bounced. The ones who stuck around had clicked a short clip first.

On AI boards attention is mean. Everyone claims a model. Everyone has a waitlist screenshot. A 40 second loomscreen of the actual workflow — input, output, one clear win — does more than a pretty hero section. I’ve watched this on EarlyHunt more than once: listings with a tight demo get the “oh I get it” comments. Listings with only prose get “how is this different?” on loop.

I’m not saying skip the landing page. You still need a place for the curious to land. I’m saying the demo is the first proof. Keep it under ~45 seconds. Show the product in the first few seconds. Mute friendly — overlays help. One job, not a tour of every setting. End with what to do next.

I used to wait until the page felt “ready.” Now I cut the clip first, even if it’s ugly, then match the page to what the clip promises. Looking at how boards stack on Best Launch Platforms, the AI weekly rooms reward clarity under time pressure more than brand polish.

Also: host it somewhere hunters can play without an account wall. If the proof is locked behind signup, you already lost the people who would’ve voted after ten seconds of “wow.”

Before your next AI launch, do you already have a sub-45s clip of the real workflow — or are you still polishing copy hoping they’ll imagine it?
