Hey IH community! π
As someone who does technical SEO for SaaS founders, I figured I should practice what I preach and optimize my own site first. The results were... interesting.
The results across devices
Desktop: Perfect 100 performance score
Mobile: 91 performance score
Here's what's interesting
The desktop version is flying - perfect scores across the board with 0.4s First Contentful Paint. But mobile tells a different story with 1.7s FCP, even though it still scores well.
What I learned:
Desktop optimization: 0.4s FCP, 0ms blocking time - nearly instant
Mobile reality: 1.7s FCP shows the real-world mobile experience
Cumulative Layout Shift: 0 (no more annoying page jumps)
Total Blocking Time: 0ms (smooth interactions)
The lesson for founders:
This reminded me why I spend so much time educating clients about vanity metrics. A perfect PageSpeed score on an empty page is worthless. A 91 score on a conversion-optimized site that actually helps your business? That's gold.
Real talk
Working with SaaS founders, I see this all the time - they obsess over tool scores while their actual users are bouncing because of poor UX or slow-loading critical content.
Anyone else experienced this? Where optimizing for users actually hurt your "scores" but improved real metrics?
