I am picky, so caution reading below.

    First

I am not sure if I understand this product, it seems like a notion course that teaches you to follow a list of tasks that hopefully unlock you growth?

My first and most important question is:

    • Why should I trust and buy this? What happens if it doesn't work? Who's gonna help me? Do I get a refund?

    About the preview image:

TOO LONG OMG I have to scroll so much, can you take some scissors and cut all the fluff or compress it and have a button to open in a new tab (or even better lightbox for those who want to see the full picture?)

    Then...

    About this section:

    Ready. Set. Grow

The text below this section makes me anxious:
    "Practice with your product?"
No thanks, I don't wanna practice!!! I want to make sure I am doing the right thing!
(The rest on this section is ok!)

    One note about these sections:

    Doing marketing is confusing

    Is MakerBox Workbook for you?

Why is the text below it an image?
I don't understand the reasoning - mind explaining?

Ok this is a great page btw - fix a few of those issues i pointed above and it's 10/10

    greetings,

    1. 3

      Hey there!

thank you, that's great feedback. a lot of insights here

appreciate you took the time and wrote such a detailed review

      cheers ✨

      1. 1

I agree with everything he said, it took me a long while before I started understanding the product. At first I thought it was just a notion template

  2. 3

Too many words once the page loads.

    1. 1

      Words are hard, agree

  3. 3

I'm a founder of a B2C startup so looked into this with some interest.

    Nice page, clean design.

    Overall thought.
The product seems to be a list of marketing ideas for businesses to implement. So value to customer is, ideas in a clean trackable format. However messaging on the website seems to mostly address the problem that either there is a productivity issue in implementing/managing different ideas ("Crush your marketing goals without going crazy") or its too boring ("Enjoy every second of your marketing week"). I would make messaging in sync with value

Overall it felt like a generic list of ideas (see why in comment below) that I could probably get for free by making a few creative google searches. I wasn't convinced to buy.

    Some specific feedback

"check if the task is a right fit for you" - My immediate thought was, what if most of the ideas are not. Consequently made me think its a generic list of ideas. Consider making multiple workbooks, vertical specific.

You mention additional features in the pricing section that are not mentioned elsewhere on the page

Team: Personally I want action items and advice from experienced folks. Rethink "we are just getting started"

    Language
Subheading: "marketing workbook" - dilutes the proposition a bit
I would rephrase Heading subtext as - Get 100 actionable tasks in an easy to track workbook format.
Know exactly what to do in your next marketing week

"Doing marketing is confusing". can drop "doing"

    1. 1

      This. Is. Incredible

Thank you for the feedback. Appreciate you took the time

Will improve the landing page based on your thoughts

  4. 3

I am not really good when it comes to Marketing, but here are my views as a user:

    • When I open the page it feels like there's too much stuff going on, and the scrolling is never ending. Specially scrolling through the preview is a bit tedious.
    • All the pages open a new site which is not ideal, even less if you are in the phone.
    • The design is simple and elegant. Maybe it would be good to differentiate the sections a bit clearer, and this will fix the first point I mentioned.

Anyways, I think without too many things going on it would have been easier for me too understand what the company does. But also note that I am not part of your target user group, so it might be easier for them!

    GL!

    1. 2

      great feedback, thank you!

      appreciate it

  5. 3

I am not sure if that is intentional - but most of the pages open in a new tab - if user wants to go back he has to keep switching tabs and mobile is much harder.

    1. 2

I thought opening in a new tab is UX standard

      should learn more about it

      thank you!

  6. 3

I liked it so much that I actually opened the console to see if I could find something to complain about. Alas, I couldn't.

It's a great page and I have zero notes other than if you remove the cat pictures I will hunt you down. I know what you look like. I will find you.

I'm a backend dweeb, so take that praise with the grain of salt that it deserves but it's as close to a perfect page as I've seen on IH.

    1. 2

Haha, this is the best comment I've read in while.

One day we will launch a product for cats, there will be only cats testimonials there

Thank you for the kind words! That means a lot ❤️

  7. 2

I was a little confused on what you do when I first landed on your page. The site is aesthetically pleasing. 1 point is the logo seems odd, being very close to the left hand side.

  8. 2

I liked it a lot. In fact I am now on GumRoad for buying the product to get inspired with new marketing ideas. :P

    1. 2

      Update: purchased.

      1. 1

I guess the landing page is working :D

Thanks, Jorje! Will send the final version on Monday.

Hope you will find value there 😎❤️

If you can, instal Hotjar (or similar) and see where users are dropping off on the page. In most cases around 60% - 80% of users drop off at about half the page.

That being said, you gotta focus on helping users figure out quickly if this is interesting for them or not.

With this in mind, here are my 2 cents:

    Above the fold

Headline "without going crazy" - not a typical scenario I find myself in. maybe without overspending? As a marketer I never go crazy. Instead I panic. But might wanna use differnt wording.

There's no image of the product. It's future pacing. Adding an image or GIF of what the product is massively helps with conversions.

Testing button colours is such a low impact test, but I've never seen a black button before. The reason colored buttons are used is because they stand out. But who knows? Maybe black ones do just as well. Anyway, while I'm intrigued by the color, placement definetly can be better. Somewhere closer to the headline or the image, middle of the page etc.

    Preview Section

It's a bit too early and too complicated to show this right here. The very first objection users typically have are:

    • What is this product?
    • What does it do?
    • How can it help me?
    • How does it work? <- this is the preview section
    • Has anybody else tried it?

Basically it's waaaay up the page when users don't have the most important question answered "how can it help me"

Also, now that I know what the product is, the headline above the fold is misleading. I thought I was gonna download a workbook. But in fact it's a tool that automates my marketing tasks IN a workbook.

Another point here is that that screenshot is way too long. The longer the page the less likely it is for users to actually reach the bottom of the page. Meaning they won't get all the relevant information.

I would only stick to 2-3 MAIN features that solve their biggest problems. And maybe have a CTA that says "show me how it works/see it in action/watch demo"

    Doing marketing is confusing

again, it might not be the right place to show this here. Also, probably worth removing. I don't think that the way this is displayed brings any value to the users or selling the product.

It can be re-written to position the features mentioned above. Like "spend less time on guess work and spend more time on strategic acquisition. This little feature helps you by xyz"

    Enjoy every second

That's a great screenshot. the copy can be better. I don't want to enjoy the week. I wanna crush it. and make cash for me and my clients.

the thing with the screenshot is that I thought it's a "dashboard" of some sorts. But the copy under it says that it has "87 more marketing tasks". What does that mean?

How does that work? Can you show a list of icons or carousel of the tasks? and this section defo needs a diagram or framework of how the marketing task works.

And on my screen, the button is under the fold. I can't see the headline ,the image, and the button at the same time. That's gonna be a disadvantage. you can look into making the image smaller.

    ** Get ready steady grow"

Now I know what the product is... It's basically a database of marketing tactics.

The three sections there are good as it conveys the right message. Copy can be better. But the section should be a little further up on the page.

    FAQ section

Not sure if this is the right way to display the FAQs.

I understand that you are trying to stand out from the typical way a FAQ section is displayed. But psychologically users are accustomed to a certain way to display the FAQs and if isn't, then there's a disconnect and it triggers their defence mechanisms.

If the bigger companies are doing it, then it's something else. Because they have a lot of social proof and people know they are a "safe" and modern product.

Or maybe it works like a charm and I'm talking out of my behind :D. Anyway just my 2 cents.

The other 2 sections are great and I like the final CTA.

      wow, is this feedback free?

this is incredible. thank you very much, Mickey!

we will analyze every point and try to fix everything.

      appreciate you man ❤️

      1. 1

my pleasure sir happy to help!

  10. 2

Wow! Thats a lot of content. I really like it. All the best :)

  11. 2

The screenshot looks low quality, emoji screenshots look amateurish. Everything else looks fine. GL!

    1. 1

      thanks! that're valid points

  12. 2

I am definitely in your target user group. However, I don't even know what a "marketing workbook" is. I wouldn't lead with a term that some users may not know.

    1. 1

      great point, thank you!

  13. 2

    Hey Dan,

I would make it even more clear what it is you do.

Crushing marketing goals < Get your first 100 customers (or anything else more tangible)

The CTA [Get makerbox workbook] is very much YOU oriented. How you can create a customer focussed CTA?

You're showing part of the product. Great. I would go a step further. Have people download a tiny bit more than that in exchange for their email. You can then email them an offer.

Just posted a topic here with a similar question. Would love your feedback: https://www.indiehackers.com/post/roast-this-idea-f690755d08

    1. 1

thank you Yannick! great points, thanks for the feedback

appreciate you took time and good luck with your idea (I voted no, haha) 👍

  14. 2

    That looks nice.

  15. 2

Nice landing page with clear images that shows your value proposition.
I'm currently learning marketing, from video tutorials where there is more theoretical knowledge and a nice structured list of actions that can help me a lot to implement everything in practice, so I can be your potential customer.

    I have only 2 points:

    1. For a better UX I think you can improve the buttons on your page, they don't have any states, so when you hover I would like to see maybe a different color.
    2. Do you plan to add a subscription form? I would like to receive maybe some tasks for free in exchange for my email, to understand if it's worth buying your entire library of tasks.
    1. 1

      thank you for the feedback!

you mentioned great points, appreciate it.

by the way, great idea about free tasks to explore the list 👍

  16. 2

I like it. A big selling point is seeing an example sheet. Without that I don’t believe any superlatives in the page, but with that I can tell it is going to be decent.

Offering 5% of the product as a free weekly course would be killer. I reckon. Each email is then a chance to sell.

I agree with @jromeau below about switching the headline. The current one is a bit samey.

    1. 1

      Thank you!

Glad that you liked it overall. And by the way great idea about the weekly course

Thank you man, appreciate your time!

  17. 2

I think the line "Know exactly what to do in your next marketing week." should be the headline. It more effectively captures the problem your product intends to solve. This is based on my assumption that this is for newbie marketers who don't have a grab-bag of marketing tactics from which to draw upon.

I like the very long content preview image because it shows exactly what to expect. It will help filter out folks who are just tire-kicking vs folks who currently have this problem and want to see a concrete example of what they will get.

It would be helpful to annotate the preview image in a bit more detail like you do with the content preview in your Frameworks product. In particular, it's helpful to enclose the specific section that your annotation text refers to instead of having an arrow. The annotation "Apply new knowledge to your product" is the one that could be most improved by this.

The "Doing marketing is confusing" section seems out of place. I think in part because it agitates but doesn't show a resolution within that section. In addition, this particular product appears to be most relevant to the question "How can I do this marketing tactic". The others are more about defining your strategy.

The "You deserve to grow faster." section feels like filler and doesn't add much value.

The "Enjoy every second of your marketing week" is really good. The central image adds the most value and the 4 on the sides seem extraneous since I can't read anything on them. Maybe you could use the central image in your hero instead and then lead into the specific tactic? Maybe include the tactic that you show in detail in that central image?

The "Ready. Set. Grow." section could be improved by highlighting the problem. For example, when I glanced at the "Unlock personalized bundles" text, that didn't grab me. But when I saw the question underneath (Not sure what task to pick?) it became clear what problem that feature would solve. "Get a holistic approach" appears to be addressing a concern I might have that this product is comprehensive. "Practice with your product" doesn't quite hit the mark. I think you're trying to address the question, "Will I have time to complete each task?".

The "Is MakerBox Workbook for you?" section is pure gold. I'm 100% going to steal this way of addressing common objections.

BTW..It would be helpful to know the format in which the Workbook is provided (seems to be Airtable like the Tools product).

    1. 1

wow, that's one of the best in-depth feedback that I received

it means a world, that you took the time and suggested all these ideas

      thank you man!

and good luck with chat FAQ — I love it too, haha

  18. 1

My critique is that your headline doesn’t say who this is for.

Is this for a founder trying to get their first 100 customers? Is this for B2B or B2C?

Is this for a mid size company trying to figure out marketing tactics to get to next stage of growth?

Since I don’t know who it’s for, I click away because I’m too lazy to dig around to find out.

Let’s say you’re target a B2C founder who is trying to go from a few initial users to 1000 users. The head line could say “Get your first 1000 B2C”

    The subheading could say
“100 Actionable marketing tactics to get your first 1000 B2C users for boot strapped founders.”

  19. 1

Try having three options for sales instead of 2. One a cheap bad product, the middle the product you want them to buy, and the third a product that is way above their expectations and money (probably)

  20. 1

Marketing "ideas" and "tasks" don't mean anything. Well, they don't get me excited. Tasks suck...

What would get me excited are, "100 steps proven to 6x your revenue"... In other words, some kind of hard fact or figure that is RESULTS ORIENTED rather than product oriented, if that makes sense.

    1. 1

      great point, thank you!

will try to tweak the copy
