Dev to Agency hit 100 Subscribers!

I know it's not a huge number, and it did take a couple of months, but for me it's a big achievement.

Dev to Agency helps full-stack developers run their own successful software agencies, and the more readers I have the more I hope to help.

Having no experience in writing or newsletters - this means a lot to me, and I realised quite quickly there is no point in 'pumping out content' if no one is listening.

My biggest learnings form 0 - 100 subscribers:

  • My readers prefer actionable over philosophical advice
  • People respond surprisingly well to a "Why did you signup? email
  • I suffer a lot of self-doubt when writing (but i'm getting better)
  • Weekly, long-form articles are too much for me (at this stage)
  • I have so much I want to say, I need to prioritise and plan
  • Having a content schedule changes everything
  • Building relationships (on Twitter) has helped a lot

I'm now branching out into interviews as well, as I realised I want to give my readers a holistic view of agency advice - and my voice is just one of many ways to do it. My first interview (with Matt Stauffer from Tighten) comes out shortly!

Hey Chris, checking out your blog. The subscribe button looks weird on mobile vertical view, I think it should be centered.
