I'm reaching out to get some help and feedback on a tool that I'm working on to help make it easier for developers to get organized when doing a technical interview. I would be truly grateful if you can post your initial thoughts on the problems you've had getting organized to do a technical interview. Then to check out demo.devsdecide.com to see if it has addressed any of your issues. Also, if you like the tool and want to use it let me know and I can set up with a free account so you can use it for your current interviewing needs.
Speaking from my own experience as a tech lead, I'm involved in various stages of the recruitment process for 2 scrum teams of around 20 people :
To be honest, interviews are a huge time sink and not something I want any extra involvement in. They are managed by HR which schedules me and does the follow up with the candidate. They maintain all the paperwork on greenhouse.io.
From my point of view, keeping organized is the job of the HR department, developers have barely any interest in the interview process and candidate management. We want to get it over with. If you tell me that I need to log into another tool to manage interviews I'll be super annoyed, just send me an email invite with the details and I'm good.
Thank you so much for that this is really helpful and getting closer to an idea. The part that I’ve heard the most is “developers have barely any interest in the interview process”. It’s been a bit hard to me to get that because of my past experience in a startup and wanting to work on everything. But the with help from people like yourself I can better target the tool to help everyone.
I’d seen coderpad before to the point that I thought about adding a shared whiteboard to my app. Greenhouse I had never seen before so I’m still studying it.
