Hello, I'm building Rockup. Rockup helps anyone create a professional looking video of their app from screen recordings of their app in action. It also lets the user add background music (wide selection available inside the app), write voiceover transcripts and record voiceovers. The resulting video can be used for the app store video previews, or for showcasing the app to users or clients, as well as for advertising ( on Instagram, Facebook, etc)
One of my target markets is developers (like myself), who find it difficult and time consuming to use a video editor for such a simple task.
I need to know if I'm wrong, so please tell me why wouldn't you use this app? :)
Thank you.
P.S. If you think this app is useful for you, please help us by signing up for the beta version (coming soon). We need beta testers. Beta testers will also get a 50% discount on the pro features once the app launches.
What is your unique value proposition in regard to https://www.loom.com/ ?
I love that you're asking the RIGHT question - find your unique differentiator and you'll be able to move forward easily from there. Well, maybe not easily ;-)
Cheers
Jonathan
Seems weird to me that Loom doesn't have any short videos on their site explaining their product ? or as a demo?
Isn't that the essence of the animated gif under their tagline?
But I agree, a more "screenshot" demo might be nice!
I'm assuming they know their way around marketing and a/b tested the hell out of it :)
Ha. I flew right by that. Didn't stand out as the "product" to me. Good catch.
Hello @JonathanOron, and thanks for the reply.
Loom seems to be a productivity tool aimed at increasing the efficiency of employees' day to day work.
Rockup is for those people who wish to present the working of their app in a professional manner, for demo, tutorial, and advertising purposes. It offers them a simple and quick way of doing that, without needing video editing expertise.
I might be missing something, but that seems to be EXACTLY what loom is for, here's an example:

Thanks for showing me this. This validates my market I guess!
I guess the difference is that Rockup is for a specific niche compared to the wide range of applications of Loom.
That's a great thing - you've got a paying market and you want to carve out a niche!
I guess that the next step is to find people who are paying Loom but are unhappy/churning - there's where you find your differentiation!
If you'd like to discuss this further, feel free to set up a meeting - https://calendly.com/jonathanoron

Thank you very much for your valuable feedback, @JonathanOron!
I'd love to discuss this further with you - I'll just launch the beta version first! :)
Good luck!
A few things are unclear and would prevent me from using this.
I would suggest that you need a lot more of the details. The site you have looks like a very basic funnel builder. If you are really close to Beta then I would like to see a lot more than just 1 example and a basic process flow. I would like to see actual examples of the output
JMHO. Best of luck on your venture
Craig
Hi @JS_Jedi, and thanks for your response.
Yes, I agree - I do need to put up a before / after video on the website. And maybe a detailed process video on YouTube.
Thanks a lot for taking time out to write such a detailed feedback - I appreciate it! I hope I've been able to answer all your queries in a satisfactory manner.
This would mean I can't edit the video? That would be a hurdle for me.
hello @girishw
Yes currently the editing options are limited.
If you don't mind, can you tell me what kind of editing you need to do?
Thanks
Typically, I shoot for my videos to be about 30-60s long. This means I need to tell a story and focus the user on the key points while cutting out parts of the video that don't sell.
Here's what I have done before : https://youtu.be/LIves92VG40
Ignoring the animated motion, I had to edit a lot to get the timing right and synchronize everything.
Haha, very clever title. I WOULD use this. I’d probably use it in conjunction with my existing video editing software though. You’ve already done the grunt work for me - trimming + selectable frame... I’d like to export and drop that into premiere to add a bit of special touch though.
For other apps, though, this tool alone would be great.
Thanks for your response @trentguillory! Your feedback is quite encouraging.
Sure thing! Can’t speak to your price point though - it’s not like I’m a serial app developer that would need videos often. But I’m usually willing to spend a few bucks if it saves me at least an hour or so of work, and this seems like one of those things.
Best of luck with it!
