I started my first company, We&Co, in 2010 with two co-founders. We shut it down five years later after growing the userbase to hundreds of thousands and the customer base to several hundred. We peaked at +$100k ARR.
Since that first company 10 years ago, I have started dozens of projects. Most were shuttered shortly after launch but two turned into successful indie companies. The first, Standard Code, grew to over $1 million in yearly revenue and another, Secure Data Kit, generated $500k ARR. The difference between the companies that succeeded and the projects that failed was having someone on my side.
Paul Graham nailed it when he wrote: "Starting a startup is too hard for one person. Even if you could do all the work yourself, you need colleagues to brainstorm with, to talk you out of stupid decisions, and to cheer you up when things go wrong."
Because of that, I'm dusting off my LLC, Friend Club, and offering accountability services to a few ambitious Indie Hackers.
