Did you quit your day job? Was it worth it?

I was building a SaaS on nights and weekends, and when I launched the landing page, my company claimed a conflict of interest, even though I got prior approval. Gave me an ultimatum, so I left to go on my own because I had saved aggressively (>50% paycheck) and felt comfortable with the "risk". The jump was way earlier than I wanted but knew there wasn't much to lose. It was ultimately a good move for me since it got me on my way, but I would suggest holding onto your job as long as you can until the business is forcing you away from it. Making your own money is incredibly difficult and will likely take at least 2-3 years before you can match your salary. Just think of your employer as an investor of the company that gets no equity, instead your time. Or like a freelance client that owns a lot of your time/attention. Another option is to quit for a job that requires less time/energy that pays less, so you get a nice middle ground. Hang in there!
