Hi everyone!
I spent a large part of time at university undergrad working at various product roles at startups. However, in my final year I jumped on a cool role to begin investing in student led startups in Canada.
A huge problem throughout my due diligence process was understanding that a large number of these companies, with the most brilliant products/services/hardware never really thought about creating a brand, personifying it , or having robust marketing initiates even at early stages. Having previously worked at frugal startups and building the brand from scratch I know the value of brand establishment, as it can lead to RFP's (If done right) from the biggest of companies with 0 dollar ad spend (or free credits haha) and complete organic marketing.
I helped a few of these portfolio companies in establishing a brand, or at least giving them some direction on how to start the band building process and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Recently, I wondered why not create an agency directed towards helping these startups by spearheading Brand establishment, Marketing initiatives, and Product development. I know people who are wonderful Product leaders, Brand managers, and god-gifted digital gurus. Would starting a small agency make sense? and/or would this be fair to student run companies considering they would have to shell out money at early stages? Looking forward to everyones thoughts :)
