Digital COVID memorial 🇹🇷: How to make a non-profit more visible?
Inspired by the covidmemorial.online and also having lost my father to COVID in August 2020, I decided to create a digital COVID memorial for people to share the loved ones they lost to COVID (in Turkish): @covid19aniti
From what I feel, this is something people want as a way to commemorate and to foster a feeling of community. To hear other people's stories and messages, and to share the grief.
As it would not be sustainable to handpick and design the responses, which I believe is the reason for the inactivity in the COVID Memorial above, I decided to automate the process. I am using Tripetto to collect form responses with photos in covid19aniti.org in Airtable. Then I pick the submissions and the memorial image gets automatically created via a Glitterly template. I use both Zapier and Integromat, I manually post the images.
After sharing on my personal account I got some followers from my circle and couple submissions too from people I don't know. However, it failed to gain traction. Without submissions I can't generate content and without activity it is difficult to get organic follows. I want to bring more visibility to my account but falling short of ideas for how to. Things I've tried so far:
- Share within my own circle on Insta and Twitter
- Try sharing in "Covid information groups" on Facebook but all of the posts got rejected (for self-promotion I suppose).
I am kindly asking for ideas on how to create an outreach. Also any feedback is welcome.
