Disappearing resume

https://fresume.com/

After several ideas (and hundreds of hours and thousands of lines of code later) that never went anywhere. I've decided to try the 'lean' MVP approach.

Full roasting/grilling/BBQ-ing appreciated.

Long story short. I loved LinkedIn in the early days. Now it's a mess. Don't like the idea of posting to the plethora of job boards. Paranoid of a shady recruiter misusing my resume.

I'm currently job hunting. So trying to solve my own 'problem'

Make sure your resume only goes to those who really need to see it
    I'd try to rewrite this...

I think you'r main catch line should be related to "filter out unsolicited/low match quality contacts" or something of that area...
Cause what your "selling" is less noise basically.... higher signal/noise ratio...
and/or a bit of privacy, than you'd say something around "let people access only what they need"... So the initial match is say only about your tech stuff...

Machine learning automatically matches your resume to the most appropriate job postings

This isn't very specific, I don't think a reader sees much value in that saying, it's empty words at this point...
If you tell me what/how it works, what do you actually do, you might be selling this/catching my attention, getting some respect/ building trust with me...

You decide who and for how long
Recruiters can only request access to your resume when they have a matching job.
Your resume can be viewed for 24hrs. After that it disappears!

I find it really hard to believe you can create technical values here, possibly social one yes, like put the time to contact limit on the actual resume possibly.
Cause I know Recruiters get resume, they copy it to their internal systems, and I can never get out of that...
Again unless you create a social contact here, make the Recruiters sign a commitment to remove the data and not contact the person etc... or submit removal from DB requests on my behalf to entities...

    name

does the name have any meaning? fresume, I'm thinking like "free-resume" or something... like you should want like a privacy related thing?.. just a thought

Thanks for taking the time. The name is a botched portmanteau of Ephemeral and resume. Good points I should ponder.

Hey Tristan! Unique idea (IMO) but who is the target audience? What does "misusing" your resume mean?

This feedback is more around the idea but the first thought that I had was the same I had about Tinder: why would you want to not be matched? Matching and messaging is not a commitment, it's almost 0 cost, and you can reject/ignore the messages that you get.

Btw, I'm starting to look at helping people navigate ideas and finding real problem that their customers have. Would you interested in having a video/phone call? I'm looking to understand how entrepreneurs like yourself define problem, and maybe I can help you reach narrow down an audience that has a problem that you want to solve. I would also be curious to hear about your van life because I lived in a shipping container for a year

      Hi Victor.

Thanks for taking the time. This is great learning. I guess the page doesn't make it clear that matching and messaging will most likely be a feature.

Misusing. In Tech I've often experienced the privileged curse of being in a field where supply does not meet the demand of the market. I would have unscrupulous recruiters send my resume to companies without my knowledge. Call me out of the blue "I found your resume from 2013, on XYZ, and I have a great Python job for you", never have I once written Python on my resume !!

The audience is the job hunter who wants to keep a low profile. Not have to worry about your boss finding your resume on ZipRecruiter!

Also those that want to keep it simple. None of the BS social media style garbage on LinkedIn.

Would love to have an offline chat. Not sure if IH has DMs? Cargo container, whuuut!

Interesting... I'm in tech too but I almost never get out of date messages... They're always about the latest resume and details. Would love to learn more.

My email and twitter are on my profile. Feel free to reach out and we can find some time to chat offline :)
