My co-founder and I really care to make the world a sustainable place and we believe a lot of people want to eat vegan/plant-based.
We found the journey daunting, spending a lot of time learning about nutrition, re-learning how to cook, and familiarising ourselves with new ingredients. So we decided to help more people transition to vegan eating.
Our aim is to help as many people as possible to eat plant-based to help the environment, spare animal lives and ultimately live better. Synergicfoods.com allows you to input some information about yourself and discover the ideal nutrition based on your biometrics and goals.
It automates the process of discovering gourmet recipes, adapting them to your nutritional needs, sorting a shopping list and putting together all the recipes.
Help us make it the best tool for anyone who is trying to eat plant-based, Sign up at synergicfoods.com and tell us about your experience.
Hi there!
I am flexitarian and cook vegan for myself, but mostly my family doesn't eat vegan, except my daughter sometimes does.
I was intrigued by your meal prep section, and I also want to know more vegan recipes, so I signed up.
Here's my feedback (just my opinion, so take everything with a grain of salt):
I would have preferred a social login option
I really don't like you asking my date of birth, that's personal information (in fact, I put in a fake one)
I want to eat better but I don't want to start counting calories and become a nutrition freak. So it feels like your service isn't targeted at me, as the onboarding was mostly about fitness goals, when all I want is healthy food, for me and the planet. Which is weird, as I really liked the landing page. So it seems like there's a bit of a disconnect (in terms of customer targeting) between the LP and the onboarding?
The meal plan didn't ask about how many portions. Eg I may want 2 portions for dinner (me + daughter) but one for lunch (me).
Questions about allergies but not much about what I like. I didn't like the meal plan much if I'm honest. My favourite food is Italian, and I would have liked the option to say that and being shown a meal plan mostly around Mediterranean food.
The recipes are not practical for a normal person with a normal kitchen and normal cooking skills. Eg Beluga lentil salad x 2: 133.5g lentil, 3.5g Dijon mustard, 133.5g cucumber etc Seriously? Who weighs stuff like that? I expect tsp or tbsp for mustard measurement, I expect a "large" or "medium" cucumber, I expect a round number for lentils (I don't have a digital scale, just an analogue scale, can't measure 133.5g with it)
On a technical level, I couldn't scroll the horizontal list on "meal prep" page. I had 5 recipes. I can see cards for 3 recipes + most of the card for the 4th. It should scroll horizontally I think, so I can see the 5th recipe but it does not (Chrome browser, on Ubuntu).
Hi @freewheelnat , thank you so much for trying the service and providing such detailed feedback.
Thank you for suggesting a social login we have it in the backlog but we will certainly prioritise it after hearing this in your feedback.
We are planning to provide extra services/perks for birthdays, knowing this, would you still be annoyed with providing the birthdate instead of how old are you?
It's enlightening to read this point, we want to build something at the intersection of culinary arts, nutritional science and everyday eating with a vegan agenda, hence something good for you, and the planet that tastes great.
Would you tell me more about what you were expecting or are looking for that we currently don't provide? (chances are we may be building it, but it would be great if you could expand this point further)
We want to build a family feature to have more people since we know many do have families or partners they want to cook with/for. I hope you'll be patient enough with us and wait for it. At the moment, I create my meal plan with more repetition so that everything is done at least twice and my shopping list already accounts for 2 people. I hope this trick may help you.
We are working hard to expand our offering of recipes introducing Synergic for Creators/Chefs, this is taking way longer than expected, but once done we will expand our profile section to accommodate preferences of taste. Would you be happy to tell me more about how you would classify your taste palette?
I love your fervour on this point, we are working on it. It's annoying to see such precise measures, we are working on building a feature that enables more rounded values for some ingredients and more precise on others. Please be patient with us, we will be updating you on this soon.
Could you tell me more about why you think the service doesn't cater with people with normal kitchen/cooking skills? is it because of the precise measures or is there any other reason why you say this?
We're so grateful for your feedback, it is our guiding star, and we hope to be able to help you in your pursuit to discover and prepare delicious vegan/plant-based recipes. If you are up for a call, please book a session with me: https://calendly.com/synergic-foods-michele/30min
Happy to give feedback, but I don't have time for a session.
In all honesty, I don't even want to tell you my age to access recipes and cooking advice. I understand you might want to do it for nutrition, but it should be optional, and it should be a range, eg 40-49, not an exact age, and certainly not a birth date. When you implement perks for birthdays, it should be an opt in on settings page, but certainly not part of the onboarding flow.
OK, to help you understand, let me explain a bit more about my current cooking. My starting point is I can cook, I'm not a chef by any stretch of the imagination but I know all the basics of cooking and I'm happy to experiment. Because rest of my family isn't vegan, I cook quite a lot of non vegan food and I want to introduce my family to more taste vegan food. I also do a lot of batch cooking, cooking a lot of "one pot dishes" (soups, casseroles etc) and freezing portions for later.
On landing page, 2 things caught my eye:
"we're dedicated to reimagining your beloved recipes" --> so I was expecting the starting point would be to ask what my favourite dishes were, and then offer vegan and healthier versions, with, hopefully, only a few ingredients swap (eg my daughter likes beef meat balls, and I basically have no clue how to make a vegan version).
The whole "Save time and learn how to cook great vegan food" section. I think I was hoping for some kind of "modular" recipes. The meal plan I got was 7 lunches, with 2 lunches being repeated (so obviously, I can batch cook them - but you know, I don't need a service to tell me that if I have same lunch on Monday and Tuesday, I can prep them both on Monday, put in fridge, and warm it up on Tuesday). As far as I could see, there no common ingredients between the different meals. Also, the instructions were per dish. The Landing Page talks about "By consolidating most of your cooking into one session", so I was expecting to see all the instructions together, with timings and so on, so I could, let's say, cook 5 dishes in one hour. Or, failing that, I was expecting for dishes with elements in common, like a base sauce, so I could at least prep that in a big batch.
To be fair, you have stuff about nutrition on landing page too, but I ignored it, hoping it would be just one part of it. But the onboarding flow was 100% about nutrition, hence the disconnect I mentionned.
I'm no chef, so I wouldn't really talk about my "taste palette". But if you mean what food I like, I would say my favourite food, and my family's favourite food, is Italian, and generally I like Mediterranean food (Greek etc). But I also like some Japanese food, Chinese, Thai, Indian etc I can handle some spice, but not too spicy.
It's mostly the precise measures. But also, some of the wording, eg "Mise en place" (I'm French and I don't even know what it means!).
In the Meal prep section, I have 5 meals ("5 recipes to cook for 7 days"). But I can see only 4 of them. The 4th one is a bit cut off and it looks like I should have been able to scroll horizontally to the right, to see 4th recipe picture fully and to see the 5th one, but I can't. So I can't not access recipe #5 . I can access recipe #5 it if I go to "Meal plan" but not from "Meal prep".
Something I didn't notice before, but some of the instructions are not clear. Eg "Dice roughly at the same size".
Extra stuff I hadn't noticed before. There doesn't seem to be a way to view recipes not part of my meal plan? Eg on Landing page, there are pictures of quite appealing dishes, but none of them are in my meal plan, so I can't see those recipes :-(
Thank you again for finding the time for this feedback.
3. What recipes would you be interested to see veganised? What are your family's favourites that you would like to see veganised and made healthy? we could prioritise adding some of these.
"We're dedicated to reimagining your beloved recipes" - this is taking us a bit longer than expected but we are working on getting more personalisation when it comes to recipe choices and tailoring of suggestions.
"Save time and learn how to cook great vegan food" - what do you mean here as "modular" recipes?
"By consolidating most of your cooking into one session" - should come in a few weeks, we have prioritised another feature which we hope you'll like, you'll soon what it is about. As a user, you should receive a newsletter and you'll be able to know when it's live.
Would you still want to have more ingredients shared among the recipes in your meal plan?
5, 6, 8. - Very useful feedback! thank you so much ❤️
Thank you again for taking the time and consideration for this awesome lot of feedback 🙏❤️
Desktop, Chrome browser 119.0.6045.199 for Ubuntu (64 bit).
"modular" recipes --> I meant some recipes sharing some healthy vegan base sauces. I cook a lot with tomatoes, so a "go-to" base for me is "olive oil, garlic, fresh ginger, chopped tomatoes, onion". I can turn that into a pasta sauce, a casserole, or a soup, by adding different ingredients and herbs/spices, I could probably create 10 recipes around that. I often batch cook it, put it in fridge, then on the day, I have my base sauce I can add stuff too, or I can use it as it is with salad for a quick lunch. But this is my only "base sauce", I was hoping to discover more ;-)
From what I understand, you basically are in the process of developing a lot of stuff that you mention on LP, I guess you mention it on LP to get users to sign up, that makes sense.
"Would you still want to have more ingredients shared among the recipes in your meal plan?" --> yes, because it helps with avoiding waste. Life happens. I might plan to cook something on Wednesday but then, my daughter's after school club has a show on, so we need a quick dinner. Or my daughter may need help with homework, and so I decide for a quicker dinner. When ingredients are shared, it's easier to be able to use what you have in the fridge. The best thing about any plan is how easy it is to adapt ;-)
@freewheelnat Oh yeah we started building 4 months ago from scratch, so a lot of the best stuff is still in build. We released as early as the platform could do the very bare minimum to start gauging how we can best help users and better organise the priority of the next features.
If you stick with us, you'll be able to see more of these juicy, super helpful features coming your way. Life flexibility is one of our main focuses, unfortunately, we have a few other bits to ship beforehand to make the platform more desirable and usable.
For some features it may take a longer wait, we're on the lookout for a good vegan front-end JS, React and React Native developer to speed up exciting updates.
I understand that you guys are just starting but I believe recipe and food industry need to have a good seo because , for example I want to cook a food, the first thing I would do is either go search on google or youtube.
I would recommend you guys to write more blogs to rank on google and do a lot of youtube shorts for youtube.
As for blogging I made an analysis for what keywords you guys should target, you can check it out here : Vegan Recipe Keyword Analysis
I made the tool and I think it can be helpful for you guys.
Good luck !
Thank you for your feedback, we are working to start creating Youtube content. I took a look at your tool, seem interesting, I will try it more in-depth in the next days.
Didnt feel like signing up, and thought would be interested if I could click through some "unique" recipes from the first page/ or a complete example nutritional plan (doesnt need to be for me, but just some example) before having to sign up. Basically, need to have some feeling this is different from the myriad youtube channels etc I might've tried.
Thank you for checking out our landing page, we are currently updating it to help people have a better idea of the service and how they can use it other than to reflect on how the service is improving over time.
Could you check the page again tomorrow and see if this change fulfils your desire to see what's behind the curtains? synergicfoods.com 🙏
