Discuss Trending World Topics

Do you know of any website where we could find topics that are currently trending (i.e hot) in the World and possibly discuss these topics in a single comment section, instead of commenting multiple articles about the same topic?

An example would be "Hong Kong protests" topic, then people would discuss that topic, instead of bunch of articles on that topic.

Something similar to what people create on reddit (or rather certain subreddit), call it "Live Thread" or "megathread"...

Here is an example of what some subreddit calls [Live Thread] Wuhan Coronavirus:

In other words, I'm looking for a website where we can discuss topics, rather than multiple articles about same topic.
Does something like that exist, and what do you think about such idea?

I read about this awhile back.
    https://explodingtopics.com/

It doesn't have a comment section, but it does track topics.
There's a write up of the making off to the sale of the site.

Twitter can be quite good for this for picking up topics?

Thanks for mentioning it. Could you point to an example? As far as I know it shows hashtags i.e. single words? I don't use Twatter, but I guess hashtags can also work.
Is anyone extracting such trending topics?
      I found https://www.tweeplers.com/hashtags/?cc=WORLD

But not sure how accurate it is?
Or for example there are both #BrexitDay and #Brexit topics trending atm according to that site, but I can't know if tweets are actually about the same thing. So with regards to making distinct comment section for each of those two tags, I guess it could be confusing?
