Discussion: How Generative AI is going to Impact Saas Companies?

Recently, I've found myself wondering about the potential impact of the generative AI revolution on established companies like Fiverr, Wix, and Pitch. While many people are concentrating on how AI technologies such as ChatGPT might replace programmers, we shouldn't overlook their broader implications.

Consider how innovative startups like Tome and Gamma are leveraging AI prompts to revolutionize presentation creation, leading to a massive transformation in the market. It's evident that established players such as PowerPoint, Pitch, and Google Slides will need to adapt to stay relevant.

The same holds true for website builders like Wix, Webflow, and WordPress. There are so many platforms available, and as we approach the day when anyone can create a simple, or even advanced, landing page using just a few AI-generated prompts, the traditional drag-and-drop approach seems to be fading into the past. Consequently, we can expect a radical shift in the interfaces of no-code builders.

Lastly, let's not forget about marketplaces like Fiverr and Upwork. As AI continues to advance, we may witness a surge in the quality of services provided, yet a decrease in the number of sellers. We've entered an era where a single individual can produce impressive results, and many tasks that were once immediately outsourced to freelancers have now become more accessible for people to tackle themselves. However, it's possible that we'll still rely on freelancers, as they adapt to specialize in prompt engineering and other AI-related services, recognizing that our time is often more valuable.

I'm eager to hear your thoughts on this topic!

I would look at it from 2 different angles.

First of all, as generative ai becomes a commodity, nothing stops companies like Fiverr, Wix, and Pitch to integrate generative ai in the their workflow. As long as you need a website, wix can use chatgpt and some midjourney api to generate it as well.

My second point is that the web as we know might change. Maybe in a longer future, we are not going to have websites, but ai agents, which are going to solve our personalized needs. Why would I have to parse and click a webpage, when I can ask for something in natural language.

In this case companies like fiverr and upwork could leverage their database with ai capabilities and adapt for a new world, in the same way netflix re invented themselves. But history is teaching us, 90% of the companies will not be able to do that.

Interesting approach although im not sure i fully agree with that prediction

One point to consider is that a lot of these startups are one competitor product launch away from disappearing. See Jasper.

    1. 1

Is Jasper an example of a company that is going to disrupt others or going to disappear?

Also is completely disagree that these will disappear so quickly.
They still have the User base, workforce, and experience to adapt.

For instance - Wix can open their API and allow user to use prompts to design their website

      1. 2

Jasper is being heavily disrupted by ChatGPT. Microsoft and Google are one product update away from making life very difficult for Tome and Gamma. Just something to consider, solid moats are very important.

Oh, so we are on the same page.
I guess i understood you wrong at first
