Hey everyone,
I’m a technical founder who hasn’t spent a lot of time actually getting folks to buy/use the products I’ve built. I’ve got some direction now but would love to get some advice.
I’ve built a game that’s distributed as a web app so no download/AppStore necessary. Traditionally I’ve mostly seen games distributed and sold through aggregated marketplaces (steam, App Store, itch.io, etc.) but I’m less familiar with other ways to connect with gamers. Any ideas for where I might start looking?
Really interested in this space. I'd guess social sharing of results / achievements in the game is the best way for organic growth but do you have any data about the percentage of signups in on web stores like Itch / steam?
Yeah! I think the sharing aspect is where organic growth can really kick off. The game has a result that can be funny to watch alone and works as a great example of what the game has in store. I’ve been seeing a lot of potential here but getting the ball rolling is where I think I need to be a bit more creative.
Sorry, can you clarify what you mean by “percentage of signups”? Like, free-to-play conversions? Or just release data from indie devs?
Can the game be hosted on Kongregate or other places similar? Other than that, I'd get a brandable domain and start driving attention to it.
I’ve thought about finding a way to bundle it into an existing platform too. Bit of a technical challenge but might be worth trying out if I can’t find traction elsewhere. Thanks
