Do AI trading bots actually work? I tested one on Apple.

AI trading bots get talked about a lot, but I was more interested in what happens when you put one against historical market data instead of marketing claims.

I ran a backtest on Apple (AAPL), and the results weren't as straightforward as I expected. Some metrics looked promising, while others showed why backtesting is much more important than assumptions.

One thing that stood out is how easy it is to overestimate a strategy without looking at drawdown, trade quality, and consistency not just returns.
