Do founders actually care if ChatGPT recommends their product?

Google rankings are something people check all the time.

But lately I've been wondering about something else:

If someone asks ChatGPT for tools in your category, do you know whether it recommends your product or your competitors?

I built a small checker for this, but what I'm really trying to figure out now is whether this is a problem founders actually care about.

Would you want to know just whether your product gets recommended, or would this only become useful if it also told you why competitors are being recommended and what you could change to improve your chances?

Curious how other founders think about this.

Not yet — and I think that's exactly the gap I'm trying to validate.
So far I've been focused on whether the recommendation itself is useful, but I'm starting to think the real value might be whether the result leads to a concrete change — positioning, website copy, or something else — and whether a recheck shows improvement.
That's a really useful way to frame it. Thanks.

The interesting question isn’t whether founders want to see recommendations—it’s whether that visibility changes what they actually do. Have any testers changed a product or positioning decision because of the results?
