Hi all,
I and my friend are working on GrowthClub.online , a peer to peer coaching platform.
I believe that when people want to grow themselves, self-help books lack practice time, and life-coaches are too hard to find or too expensive. Therefore I am working to build a peer to peer coaching platform where you and your peers coach each other with a simple system we have.
Recently we are focusing on the founders of startups. Being both entrepreneurs I and my friend assume that other founders are just as crazy about hacking themselves as about hacking the venture they are working on. I often came across a situation when e.g. lack of proper goal-setting seriously slowed the progress, and no kind of business advice would help me until I realized it myself and started working on it. Maybe it would be an easier way for me, if GrowthClub existed before?
Do you think entrepreneurs need to allocate time for their personal growth? Are you working on a particular area of your own personal growth at the moment?
It's indeed super important to have a regular routine on personal growth @maximzavadskiy
How would you suggest to manage expectation and how do I know the person I got matched will be able to support each other?
Thanks for asking @felix12777 !
For expectation management, I am thinking to collect and publish case studies - a goal that a member has set, how long it took with growthclub to achieve it, and where there was most help offered.
On the 2nd part of your question, I have some features in the backlog. I am thinking to grant levels to the members depending on their coaching experience (=time of the platform). We expect after a few weeks most of the members should have some coaching skills. Which means they can ask questions you haven't asked yourself.
Let me know if you have some ideas too on that
I recently was in contact with a coach. I want his services, but am trying to buy a home and didn't want the extra expense.
In other news I also was part of Startup School and met other co-founders. While cool people and interesting chats, I don't think they benefitted me much other than a few pieces of advice. A coach on the other hand is a very structured professional. Just like I wouldn't hire anyone with depression to be my psychologist, I don't see a point in this.
While working with my coach I did think that all the tracking and repetetive tasks could be appified. But I've not even checked if there are apps out there for this so if you've read the Mom Test, then you know what that means :)
Thanks for comment Krister! .. Means you don't have enough pain to look for a solution? But then you did work with life-coaches and invested your time? This may also mean that coaching apps are the obvious place to look for when you want to improve something in yourself. Please, correct me if I am wrong.
Btw was in SuS 2020 too :)
Since I didn't want to pay cash to the coach at this moment we didn't proceed beyond two free lessons. I was ready to go through the 10 first apps on Play store, like I usually do when I need something.
If there was an automated coach - I would probably try it. But if it's a noob (like myself) coaching me, I have very high doubts.
Yes, good point on noobs - we will need to figure out a way to tackle this. Kristen thanks a lot for breaking down your search. That will be very helpful for us to iterate idea!
Nice idea! To answer your question from a personal stance, I'm just getting started with my own IH journey and right now I'm working on committing to a todo list and getting that done without getting distracted during the day working from home.
That also needs to happen at a more macro level once I identify my issue/problem and business idea as I have a history of false starts. Being your own boss, in charge of your own time is hard, so I 100% say a big, fat YES in response to your post title.
Definitely, like they say the best part of being your own boss is that you don't have a boss, and the worst part of it is that you don't have a boss. Can you tell a bit more about false starts? You mean starting something and not finishing it? I mean I guess everyone here has failed at projects, so the question is what is the reason they failed.
