Do newsletter consumer services exist?
I'm a busy guy, and I want to stay up to date on what's going on in my different areas of interest in the least amount of time possible. For this reason, I'm trying to craft a set of newsletters that can give me a maximal signal to noise ratio.
The only problem is, there's TONS of different newsletters, and it takes a lot of effort to try them all out and pick and choose which ones I actually like and are worth my time.
It would be awesome if there was some sort of service where I could write a small little blurb to someone about what I'm looking for and they craft me a set of newsletters to subscribe to and a plan for reading each one. For example:
I'm a software engineer, and I'm primarily interested in staying up to date with what's happening with Rust (the language) as I use that for my job. To a lesser degree, I want to keep up with JS / TS, Next.js, React, and what the hot new web technologies are in general. I'm also interested in Computer Science in general, and would like a high level overview of the most popular new research is in Computer Science, particularly in the areas of AI/ML and Distributed Systems.
I want to keep up-to-date with the news. I don't really care about local news, or other things that are of little consequence, and just want to hear about and understand the most pressing events with global impact.
Other main topics of interest for me are <snip for brevity, but you get the idea>
On the weekdays, I have about 30 minutes in the morning that I can dedicate to reading and maybe another 30 scattered randomly throughout the evening. The weekends are less consistent, but probably 1-2 hours on average per day.
Then someone would come back with a plan for me, like this:
- Newsletter A
- Newsletter B (skip sections a, b, e)
- Newsletter C (only read this every other day, they repeat content a lot)
- Newsletter D (briefly skim and read the 1-2 articles you find most interesting in depth)
- etc...
I would probably be willing to pay a decent amount of money for a service like this (probably in the $50-$100 range) if it also included a couple of iterations that I could use to make my plan better and the person/company providing this service had a good reputation.
Does something like this exist? And, if not, why aren't one of you doing it? I tried searching on google but I couldn't find anything.
