You should not highlight the price in case of a freelance marketplace, an ecommerce site or any other commercially related website.
In order to create an effective online commercial service, you must accomplish your desired goals.
For example, if you own an ecommerce site, your main goal is to sell as many products as possible.
You have a well-crafted website if everything on it is clear and concise. Layout, design, images, copy, and other aspects of a website are all intended to sell.
By using an appropriate design, you should direct your visitors' attention to two key locations on the page:
1.) the most important features of the product or service,
2.) a place where the user can click the "Buy Now" button to perform your desired action.
If you highlight and grab the attention of your visitors with the price, before they can see the advanced features of the product or service, you are making a mistake.
You should not hide the price, but you should also not draw too much attention to it.
When your visitor first discovers the benefits of your product or service, they are more likely to purchase it than if the first thing they see is the price.
Take a look at the sample image above, inserted from our freelance marketplace (tasquitos.com), where the display of the price is smooth and does not stand out at all.
Rightly said... The price is important but before providing the price the main motive should be to attract the buyer because of product's MSP and not just by price. If the product offers quality and is priced decently then you will always have a win -win situation.
We ran an A/B (split) test on one of our webshops more than a decade ago. On version B, where price was not a distinguishing factor, all vital page metrics improved dramatically in Google Analytics.
