Do people actually trust testimonials anymore?

Hey Indie Hackers đź‘‹

I’ve been thinking a lot about how trust is the biggest invisible problem online.

People judge your skills, services, or even your product long before they try it — and most of that judgment happens through social proof that isn’t always real.

We built TrustVerifi
to tackle that: a platform that helps individuals and businesses prove credibility through verified identities, authentic testimonials, and live trust scores.

But here’s what I’m trying to validate 👇

🧩 Do people still believe online reviews and testimonials anymore?
💬 Would having a verified badge or trust score change how you view someone’s credibility?
🚀 And if you’re a founder or freelancer — what would make you actually want to showcase verified proof publicly?

I’d love honest feedback from the community — both as users and builders.
This is still early days, and your input could help us shape what credibility means for the next generation of professionals.

Thanks in advance 🙏

Yes, people still check reviews to understand what to expect from a company.
As a software provider, I’d add a verified badge to my website, but only if it comes from a trusted, reputable source. So, you’ll also need to invest in branding to make your platform recognizable and credible. It takes time, so be prepared for that.
    Hope this helps!

      That’s a great insight — and you’re absolutely right. 🙌
We’ve seen that trust badges only work if the brand behind them is trusted first.

That’s why, alongside building the product, we’re investing heavily in brand credibility — through verified onboarding (KYC/KYB), transparent moderation, partnerships with known verification providers, and early adoption by trusted professionals.

For us, the goal isn’t to just issue badges, but to make “TrustVerifi Verified” itself become a symbol of integrity — something that instantly signals authenticity, the same way SSL or Google Verified Business does today.

Appreciate the reminder — it’s a long game, but we’re in it for that exact reason. Thanks for sharing this perspective! 🙏

That's right. I'm glad we agree on that.
