I am working on a volunteer management system that sends automated text reminders to volunteers before their shifts to prevent no-shows. I have been emailing churches for a couple of weeks and following up with a phone call to try to get some more early users, or at least get feedback. It is pretty time-consuming for not much reward yet.
What do y'all think about cold calling? Have you had a lot of success, or are they a waste of time?
Oh boy do I still cold email! To be honest, I've found that there are better ways to reach your customers; like on Indiehackers! I'd also try LinkedIn Sales Nav or something similar to help with outbound sales.
I have heard a lot of people mention using LinkedIn, I am going to look into this. Thank you!
I can see it working well when reaching out to traditional businesses. In the online space, less so.
Yes, I can see that being a pattern too
Yeah, the company I work for does quite a bit but from what I can see the results are limited relative to the time put in.
Would shifting your target improve things, e.g. rather than the churches how about the actual volunteers? Getting some of them signed up for trials could get you valuable data and also they could then spread the word with other volunteers!
Thank you for your response! I agree that I may need to shift from churches to other non-profits that operate more as a business, at least to gain some momentum
