Do things that don't scale.
It took me a very, very long time to hop aboard the community train (communities like IH, Reddit, etc).
I've always imagined them as a cesspool of trolls duking it out.
But I'm getting close to launching a product ( Econus ) and a few people told me to give it a go, so here I am.
I couldn't have been further from the truth. It's been an absolutely incredible experience. Everyone in this community has been full of wonderful advice and helped me immensely in preparation for my launch.
So much so that I've completely altered my launch strategy; from mass blasting news outlets and paying a ton of money for ads, to making personal connections and collaborating with like-minded entrepreneurs. I spend a ton of time on here chatting with entrepreneurs, learning new strategies, learning from past successes and failures.
Each individual connection I've found to be so much more valuable than the traffic I get from a mass-blast social media ad.
The image in this post is a picture of the first $2 I made in my business in 1 year and 10 months. A fellow IH told me to withdraw it from the bank and frame it, and that's just what I'm doing. Brilliant idea, thanks @unemployability.
My advice is to fellow entrepreneurs is to take advantage of the incredible communities available to us for free. Make personal connections. Grow your network. Do things that don't scale.

Absolutely. A direct line of communication with the people you already know are interested in your niche.
HAHA! That is great! a quick short story to add to it - the first SaaS my partner and I launched a zillion years ago was preceded by a press release. I subscribed to some IT support newspaper (they still existed then) and in the middle of the front page was a snippet of an article about our press release with our company name in the headline - I just stared at it forever thinking "I have altered reality, literally, if I didn't build that and make that press release this page would look different and nobody would have ever known what was missing from it" - now I'm looking at a picture of a two-dollar bill because I shared a story about the first check I ever got for my SaaS. I did it again - I altered reality!
That's what we are all doing, not to sound granola here but it's CREATION - making something that has this far-flung who-knows-what-effect and altering what's out there and there is always room for more. That's why you are holding that two-dollar bill that would have gone to someone else.
As for your launch plans - I would still consider firing down every single channel you can and seeing where you get some traction LOL!
Truth! It's so cool seeing something you built to show up in the world. Much different than working on a project at a big company and being able to say "I was on the team that had the idea to implement xx feature, which they didn't end up using, but my comment made them then choose the feature that is now on there"...or something similar haha. This is YOUR baby and you made it happen.
In regards to other channels, don't worry, I'm still doing that, but it's relieving to know I don't have to rely on those methods.

Haha.. reminds me of the Steve Wozniak story where he pulls out scissors and cuts $2 notes off of uncut sheets sold at the treasury souvenir shop and got questioned by the secret service
Indeed. It was actually funny grabbing one at the bank. I asked for a $2 bill and he said they have to order foreign currencies in. I argued with him how it doesn't make sense that a $2 bill would be a foreign currency. I caved and asked for two $1 bills instead, he then said "ohhh, you asked for a $2 bill? We can do that" hahaha
