I heard many times that most boring stuff could be most successful.
I have several ideas to choose from to focus on.
The problem is I don't know what I should use as a criterion. I would like to put a goal and pursue it no matter how. But a goal may not conform to my interests.
Now, the question is what is more important:
Fun and goals aside, you also need to ask yourself can you see yourself doing it for the next 10 years of live - as that's what it will take.
How can I predict and see myself 10 years ahead? I tried before to do it just for a couple of years but always failed. I think right now one thing, and another in 2 months :(((
Money and success are only part of the equation. You have to be driven to work on your project, so I think being interested in your business is absolutely essential.
Like what @jloha312 said, you need to find a balance otherwise you will burn out much quicker.
Right... I guessed something like that, but was not sure.
People always say "find something that can drive you" (== fun) but other people say "get out of your comfort zone" (!= fun) and this controversy always confuses me.
Personally I would combine the 2.
Choose something that matters to you and helps solve a problem you have. This way you 1) care about it and 2) have the problem.
If you care about it you'll likely not stop for a longer time vs something you just find mildly interesting. If you have the problem you'll also likely understand it so know what needs to be built.
I did this with trustfuss.com - I had a problem with a warranty being wrongly denied. I spent many hours investigating it so I understood the problem well. I cared about it because I felt powerless to do something about it beyond saying I won't buy this brand anymore.
This feeling of "powerlessness" is what I think about - how to keep make sure others don't end up here...
Thanks for your advice...
I'm always trying to solve my own problem... but the truth is I find some other solution or this problem turns to be temporary... and a problem is often doesn't fit my goals if any...
I think a good starting point is to look at the "pain severity" - going from a small amount to large amount of pain.
This was my approach when I looked at problems I wanted to work on. I just took the most painful one on my list as the one that I would care about most as my starting point. What I think you'll discover is that your starting point is rarely your ending point as you discover more and more aspects to the pain.
I would suggest putting a list of your problems and ranking them in terms of pain (least to most). You could then just pick the one that seems to have the most impact to you or just keep adding to the list and review over time until you find one that you care most about.
I think this takes time so don't think you'll immediately find something. But don't give up either - as if you truly want to do something you care about and fits your goals - I think it does take a good amount of effort to figure it out :)
Thank you very much for your suggestion! I will think on in and maybe adopt some practices :))
Can you explain what you mean by a goal?
In this question I ment some goal to be pursued during the next 5-10 years (or may be more, I'd like to think about life's goal but it's hard). It should be serious enough.
