Do you consider a youtube channel and indie hacker business?
I'm a Sr. Engineering Manager but I always wanted to have a side business. That has eluded me so far :) I tried creating a company with a friend and we got an MVC but it failed unspectacularly. The client changed its mind and did not buy.
I've recorded a couple of classes for skillshare. I'm not very good yet but getting better at video creation. I've made some money and have a few hundred students, nothing to write home about.
I like teaching. I'm starting a journey of creating a youtube channel. The elevator pitch is simple:
"I help you go from small town developer to Sr. Leader in Big Tech, just like I did but faster and with less mistakes".
I'm looking for a community to help me grow my skill and where I can share my journey (build in public kind of thing).
Is indie hackers a fit?
I've long been a consumer of the podcast. I've seen for example Ali Abdaal there but he is a big time youtuber.
Is starting a youtube channel intending to grow something you would consider an indie hacker business? Curious to hear your thoughts.
I'd definitely consider joining the Content Creator ranks an indie hacking endeavor. It's not writing code (as indie hacking seems to alude to) but many things fall under the IH umbrella in my opinion (newsletters, podcasts, content creation of all varieties) - many of which have been explored on the IH podcast.

I was not sure if these things need to be making money or how much before we can start asking for feedback. I make some money with content creation but it is still a very low amount.
I'd say Indie Hackers could be a good fit, as well as Twitter. There are some free and paid communities out there that are great for independent creators. They can help you a lot on your journey. Good luck!
thank you :) I'll check twitter. Funny there was an article I saw on IH where a person was complaining that twitter was going down hill for IH. Too much repetition around self promotion.
