Do you focus on UX and design in MVP ?
Hi everybody,
I'm working on an android app and a website related to this android app. Currently, I'm developing the features of the android app and the website by using some components of Material Design. Material Design is good for prototyping but it doesn't give a good aspect to the app.
I have the feeling that I can't launch the MVP if I don't have a good UX and design, even if all the features are implemented.
Would you hire somebody to take care of the UX and design in the early stage of the app ?
Or maybe would you try to improve a bit the UX and design by yourself before launching the MVP ?

NEVER design things by yourself when you can buy templates for cheap, e.g. https://themeforest.net/category/site-templates
I sometimes pay $100-$200 for a designer on Upwork - it won't be award-winning but you'll look 10x better than something a coder built (no offense, I'm in the same boat)

I'd say instead of trying to figure out a great design and UX by yourself it's easier, faster and cheaper to use some kind of template.
I think the only time unique (and outstanding) design really matters is when it is a UPS of your product.
I can't remember the name of the todo list app that had a unique design and UX and that was its main selling point. It didn't do anything else than other todo apps, but it looked really great and the UX was something different that people loved.
So if you are building for a crowded market, you can try to differentiate your product with a great, unique design. If this is not the case, go with a template and copy the UX of other similar tools.
This is something I try to keep in mind when I'm working on something new, but usually, I fail and I end up spending too much time working on the design. Don't be like me :D

I also use to spend too much time thinking about the design by doing some minor changes :D I agree UX and UI are very important especially with the amount of apps online, people are looking for something easy to use and with a good design aspect.
I will try to focus on the features and then building a nice UI/UX
